03B62312September is Healthy Aging Month! One of our missions at the Y is Healthy Living and we allow people to continue or start this journey by offering various classes for healthy living.  Aging shouldn’t ever be a fear of people, it’s an inevitable part of our world. This month celebrate how to do that in a healthy way!

Taking care of your health is extremely important and there are many different easy ways to do this!

Here are a few things to do this month:

  1. Make sure you get enough sleep

Remember: “catching up” on sleep is not a real thing. Make sure you’re getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night. The key to a healthy and restful sleep is going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time everyday. You can download apps that track your sleep schedule to make sure you don’t wake up in the middle of a sleep cycle. Some FitBits track your sleep schedule and tell you how many times you wake up in the middle of the night and how restful your sleep is. Sleep is truly what fuels our bodies, so it’s extremely important!

2. Surround yourself with positive people.

Make sure your circle of family and friends are filled with positive people who lift you up rather than bring you down. Get rid of anyone who make you feel bad for no reason!

3. Keep track of your mental health

Mental health is just as important as your body health. Your mind is one of your most important body parts to keep healthy.

4. Activity and Healthy Eating

The key to a healthy body is good food that fuels your activity! At the Y, we offer different classes and programs for healthy living.
