Juliet and Ashli’s Fitness Story: Day Two
Week One Challenge: Working Out Before Work
This is the second day of our five day workout challenge. How are we doing so far? We will be updating this post every couple of hours until 7:00pm so you can see how working out before work affects our day. If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to share online or through the Contact Us section of the website!
The Workout: 6:00am to 8:00am
Ashli: Snow, snow and more snow made it SO DIFFICULT to get out of bed this morning. But after a quick cup of tea and a piece of banana bread (made with FROZEN bananas – the best) my boots were laced up and I was ready to clean off my car! The power of accountability is SO REAL guys! Knowing that Juliet was already up and at ’em made me want to get to the Y as quickly as possible.
Juliet: Waking up this morning, was WAY harder than it was yesterday. Maybe it was the dark, daylight savings morning, or the mini-blizzard, but laying in bed with my dog was almost too comfortable. I couldn’t let Ashli go in alone today, even if we workout at different Y’s. Just knowing that she was going to be out there, hitting the gym, was enough to get me out of bed.
The Morning: 8:00am to 10:00am
Ashli: I really feel empowered by having my workout done…and I felt good about the hearty/healthy breakfast I had this morning…but as 10 o’clock is approaching, I am pretty hungry. Learning to balance the food part of this new routine is…well, something I’d like to learn more about! I keep thinking about how at the end of the day, I’ll have time and energy to make and eat dinner, pack my bag and get ready for Wednesday! It’s pretty amazing to feel so accomplished before noon!
Juliet: I am so sore. My hamstrings, quads, glutes, abs, and back muscles are tired. Standing up is a strenuous activity. But overall, I feel like I have more energy than normal.
I opted out of wearing heels today (yesterday’s mistake) and I am much more comfortable. It’s almost 10:00am and I’ve already hit my step goal for today! That’s literally one of the best feelings.
Mid-Morning: 10:00am to 12:00pm
Ashli: I’ll be eating lunch by 11. That is all. *UPDATE* I ate lunch at 11:55 and it was GONE by 12:01.
Juliet: This was the toughest part of my morning. Time slowed down. I was starving. My muscles were starting to stiffen up from sitting in my office chair for a couple hours straight. I should to more walking around.
**Update** I took a walk every time my Fitbit buzzed and I snagged a few munchkins from a coworkers office. Don’t judge me. I earned this.
Lunchtime: 12:00pm to 2:00pm
Ashli: Not sure why today is such a hunger-filled day, but I’m definitely trying to keep the rumbling of my stomach down drinking some tea and definitely drinking lots of H2O! Also…it’s snowing…again.
Juliet: The munchkins held me over to a later lunch. I ate around 1:30pm and had a helping of my delicious quinoa and veggies. Saw the snow. Hate the snow.
The Afternoon: 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Ashli: I can’t believe how hungry I still am! I’m looking forward to deciding what I want to do about dinner but I am also hoping I figure it out before I get to the store because who knows what kind of junk will find it’s way into my cart! I’m really excited to see how many people pull through with their YES vote on our instagram poll today and end up following through with working out before work at least once this week!
Juliet: I don’t think I’ve ever drank so much water in my entire life. Well, at least this consistently. It’s making me feel so much better. It’s even helping with my occasional sluggishness!
I have to say that I am excited that I only had one workout today. The double whammy yesterday (morning workout and post-work TRX Press class) was tough. But I don’t regret it!
It’s amazing what your body can do when you push yourself!
The Evening: 4:00pm to 7:00pm
Ashli: I wonder if Juliet is tired…she’s way more of a morning person than me, BUT tonight I’ve got my bags packed for tomorrow and I am ready to take on HUMP DAY!!!!!! (*camel in the office voice*) Three days left – JOIN US!
Juliet: I can’t compete with Ashli’s packed bags, as I tend to be a procrastinator. In this case, that means I’ll be sleeping in my workout clothes, then rolling out of bed to hit the gym. I’m hoping to wake up to minimal snow, but I’m excited for Day 3!
