The Journey is the Destination

A Chingachgook Adventure Trip is much more than exploring new places: it's exploring yourself, gaining confidence, pushing limits and building a close community with peers.  It's about covering a lot more than terrain—it's a journey of the spirit, mind and body: a source for strength in all other challenges and experiences throughout life.

Safe Adventures

At Camp Chingachgook, safety is our number one priority. We hire and train mature staff certified in wilderness first aid and lifeguarding who are experienced in leading overnight trips. Leaders set guidelines for camper behavior, instruct campers in safety procedures, and maintain communication with Chingachgook administrators throughout the trip.

Tradition

Chingachgook Adventure Trips are the culmination of a history of extended camping trips begun in 1912. Summer camp has always offered three- to four- day canoeing and backpacking trips on Lake George, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondacks. Today, Chingachgook offers over 30 Teen Adventure Trips each summer, hosting 250 youth on adventures of a lifetime.

The Gateway to the Adirondacks

Known as the Queen of American Lakes, Lake George is 32 miles long and offers fantastic swimming, kayaking, and sailing. Chingachgook is located near other natural attractions including the Green Mountains of Vermont, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the coasts of Maine and Massachusetts. This proximity to so many great wilderness areas makes Chingachgook trips affordable, practical, and efficient. We provide the perfect gateway to safe and exciting adventures in the outdoors

Small Groups

A coed group of 10 or less with two trip leaders (male and female) is the perfect size for a wilderness or service adventure. With small groups, trip leaders are able to provide lots of individual guidance.
