Camp-wide cannoe race is session highlight

Camp Community

The overnight Camp community consists of four units based on age and gender.  Campers 13 – 15 years old call the Senior Units home while the 7 – 12 year olds share the Junior Units. A unit director is assigned to each of the four units where he or she lives and oversees the 7 cabins or yurts in that cluster. Each unit includes a centrally-located bathhouse.

Cabin Life and Supervision

Each cabin or yurt houses 8 to 10 campers, a counselor, an assistant counselor, and a counselor in training (CIT).  Staff members complete a comprehensive two-week training before the start of Camp.  Campers are encouraged to make new friends in and out of the cabin while embracing the core values of the YMCA: honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. Cabinmates  bond while playing a sport or participating in team-building games during morning activities. Cabin groups also complete the day together before bedtime with a calming vespers activity inside or even under the stars.
