Learning, Growing, and Thriving at the Y
We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life. Because of the Y community, kids are taking more interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, kids learn their ABC’s, learn to share, learn about sportsmanship, and most importantly, learn how to be themselves. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
At our Hannaford Brothers Children’s Educational Center at the Albany YMCA, we care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.

Shelter in Place Drills
The New York State Office of Children and Family Services mandate that ALL licensed programs conduct two Shelter In place drills a year. Our sites in the Albany City School District will conduct these drills on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 and Wednesday, April 13, 2016. These drills will occur once attendance has been taken and will not take up too much of our programming time, we just need to make sure all of our students understand these drills and we practice them for their safety.
It is the policy of the Y that any absences be verified at the beginning of each program day. Parents are to be called by YMCA staff when a child is unexpectedly absent to ensure that parents are aware of the child’s whereabouts. If you know in advance that your child will not attend program on any given day please contact your Site Supervisor immediately.
This summer, look for new games and activities as well as a new outdoor picnic area, new Bocce ball space, weekly bounce house, weekly trips to the Y’s premier regional day camp (Adventure Camp in Guilderland), and more field trips. Learn more
