Learning, Growing, and Thriving at the Y

School ProgramsWe believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life. Because of the Y community, kids are taking more interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, kids learn their ABC’s, learn to share, learn about sportsmanship, and most importantly, learn how to be themselves. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Day Care and Early Learning at the Lally Center

The Capital District YMCA’s Thelma P. Lally Early Learning Center in Scotia NY provides a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages the development of problem solving skills, helps instill self esteem, and provides the opportunity for safe peer and adult interaction for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. Visit the Center’s webpage for more information.

K-Care Program

Our goal is to exceed the needs of half day kindergartners. Located in the Goodrich school building at 91 Fiddlers Lane in Latham NY, K-Care is a quality child development program with an emphasis on building self-esteem, social skills, and problem solving. Our trained staff carefully plan each day to offer  a variety of age appropriate activities. A monthly newsletter keeps you informed about projects, weekly themes, parties and vacations. We offer a balance of free play, organized group activities, quiet time, story time, outdoor play, physical education, and peer and adult interaction. To schedule a tour, call 518.785.4871.

Before- and After-School Programs

The Capital District YMCA partners with local school districts to provide affordable and enriching programming for children after-school. We focus on character development with a emphasis on the Y-s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. In a fun and nurturing environment, we focus of health and fitness nutrition and education. Our program participants are involved with 4H and giving back to the community. Each site location participates in collecting items for our Residence program for the holidays, care packages for the Pediatric wing at Albany Medical Center, and Food Drive for the Inner City Mission.
