Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Supporters:
2008 was a remarkable and challenging year in so many ways. It was a
year in which we experienced another record breaking Reach Out For
Youth Annual Support campaign. Even through challenging economic times
revenue increased significantly compared to the same period in 2007.
The people of the Capital District generously offered us a
$1.35-million vote of confidence in the mission of the Capital District
YMCA - building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
This
accomplishment was made possible by the dedication and extra efforts of
our outstanding team of volunteers, donors, staff members and community
partners. Working together we truly made a difference in our
communities in 2008. We can now create ever more opportunities for
greater YMCA accessibility. Over 20,000 individuals and families will
be able to walk through the doors of the YMCA thanks to everyone's
efforts.
We
can also attribute our optimistic view of the stability of the
organization to the fact that the YMCA is uniquely positioned to help
address many of the critical issues facing our communities today. We
are the leader in the healthier and wellness initiatives for those
seeking out healthier and more active lifestyles. We aggressively
address the potential problems that confront today's youth and we are
providing them with positive paths to follow through our Achiever's
Program, Youth and Government, Saturday Nights Out, and a host of
mentoring initiatives. We offer working parents first class, attentive
child care programs. We are always prepared to expand our service area
to meet the needs and desires of those who have exhibited and interest
in having a YMCA a part of their community.
We continue to be
grateful for the opportunity to serve our communities through the
Capital District YMCA and are equally thankful for the assistance of so
many people. Continued guidance and support will be greatly appreciated
as we continue to grow in the future.
