Tamika, affectionately known by her teens as “Miss Precious,” began as a parent volunteer with the Achievers program in 2012. She now serves as the coordinator for our Albany YMCA branch location. Tamika is a champion for youth advocacy and has experience in counseling and teaching soft skills. One of her favorite things about her work with Achievers is, “hearing her teens speak highly of their program and defend what it stands for without shame.” The kids know her for her high-energy and fun personality. When she’s not uplifting and empowering our youth, you may find her reading, singing, doing arts and crafts, or planning events. She is also a personal stylist. Tamika sees her work with Achievers as rewarding. She says, “I can tell you that every week I see the same faces and getting to witness their growth throughout the program is awesome.”
