The Capital District YMCA (CDYMCA) is more than a gym. For teens and young adults, it’s an extension of learning. We help thousands of children and teens build skills and confidence as they explore new interests and passions through the YMCA. We nurture their potential.

What exactly do we offer teens?

Organized Sports

Teens at the YWe offer a wide variety of group sports that help build teamwork and confidence. Through our programs, your teens will stay active and develop healthy habits. The YMCA is a great place to build positive relationships and earn the leadership skills that will help them in all aspects of their life.

Global Service and Exchange Program

Our local branches work with YMCA’s abroad to expand our perspectives and world views. In 2014, we had the pleasure of being a part of service trips to Vietnam and Brazil. Humanity, what brings us together, is stronger than what differentiates us. Through this program, your teen will learn compassion and understand the importance of social inclusion and service both in our community and beyond.

Aquatics

There are many options to choose from in our aquatics department. If your preteen or teen wants to perfect their stroke, they can enroll in swim lessons. If they’re already a strong swimmer, they can join one of our swim teams. In addition, we also host lifeguarding courses. The Y is always looking to hire new lifeguards!

YoutTeens at the Yh in Government

Within this program, teens are mentored by local government officials and leaders. It’s designed to provide teens with the opportunity to use their thoughts, voice, and actions to grow and contribute as a productive member of society. Bonus: By joining the program, you teen will receive a free YMCA membership!

Black and Latino Achievers

Our Achiever’s program gives teens and young adults of any race, the opportunity to prepare for higher education and understand their career goals. Together this group goes on college and workplace tours, attends conferences, and hones their resumes and interview skills. The Achiever’s program shows students how they can make their dreams come true.
