Technology is everywhere. You use it to talk to your friends, check movie times, and update your status, but that’s not all it can be used for. You can use technology for more than just communication. You can use it to track your fitness progress. We know you’re busy and fitness is hard to squeeze into your routine. But don’t worry, your cell phone is here to help!

Here are a few apps to help you manage your fitness schedule and progress:

Fitbit

Yes, a Fitbit is expensive, but it can do a lot for you. It tracks your steps, heart rate, calories burned, and even tracks your sleep patterns! This app is great because it keeps track of more than your calories—it manages your overall health.

Capital District YMCACapital District YMCA App

As a member, you have access to all 10 of our Capital District branches. From our app, you can browse class schedules right from your phone. Maybe you’re a member of the Guilderland YMCA, but the Bethlehem location is right by your office. Our app can help you track which classes are happening where and when. When you find a class you like, you can add it to your calendar. That way, it will notify you when it’s time for that class! Bonus: You’ll get notifications when something major happens—like a pool closing or a snow day.

JEFIRunning AppT

This is a great resource for people looking to gain muscle mass through body building. It has built in timers and workout suggestions to make the most of your trip to the Y. The app advises you how many reps to do and how long you should be doing them. If you want to take it a step further, book an appointment with one of our personal trainers.

Strava Running and Cycling

This is more than just an app—it has built-in competition. It not only tracks your running or cycling distance, and pace, it also has a leaderboard feature that shows you how you stack up against the competition.

Fitocracy

This is a game, social media, and fitness tracker all in one. It’s a place where you can work out to score points, engage with other gym goers, earn points and move through the levels.
