“Boredom: The desire for desires.” -Leo Tolstoy
July is Anti-Boredom Month, so let’s make the choice, right now, to have desires. Do you desire to read more? Write more? Play harder? Lose weight? Travel? Love harder? Eat healthier? Learn to draw? Knit? Cook? Run?
There are many chances, in life, to run after our desires. Let’s not lose sight of them; let’s not become bored. Join us at the Y this month and try something you never have before.
If you answer “No” to any of these questions, we provide the following answer:
Q: Have you ever attended a group exercise class?
A: Check out your YMCA’s class schedule and show up for class. It’s a great way to build a sense of community. Exercising with others may boost your confidence and hold you accountable for showing up and working hard.
Q: Do you know how to swim?
A: There are many adults who never learned to swim. If you’re one of them, it’s not too late. Sign up for an adult swim class so you can swim safely this summer.
Q: Do you know everything there is to know about living a healthy lifestyle?
A: Most of us don’t know everything that goes into a healthy lifestyle. Visit our health & wellness page to learn about our fitness, nutrition and wellness programs.
Q: Do you like that your child spends hours in front of his/her TV, computer or cellphone screen everyday?
A: Get your child off the couch and into the Y. We offer many programs geared toward youth and teens.
