Capital District YMCA Selects Tovah Lisky as Senior Vice President of Association Advancement

The Capital District YMCA is pleased to announce the hire of Tovah Lisky for the position of Senior Vice President of Association Advancement.

Under the direction of the President/CEO, Lisky will direct all functions of the Financial Development office in annual, capital and endowment development activities, and oversee the efforts of the Director of Annual Giving, the Director of Community Development, and the Director of Youth Development.

As a key member of the Y’s Senior Management Team, Lisky will substantially influence the activities and direction of the organization at all levels. Working closely with the President/CEO, other senior officers of the organization and volunteers, Lisky will articulate the vision of the YMCA both internally and externally.

Lisky will support and partner with the President/CEO and board members on all major fundraising initiatives, and will work with the President/CEO and senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc.

Lisky will monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders, and develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors. She will identify, develop and mentor the Association Advancement team, covering the areas of Annual Campaign, Community Development and Youth Development. Lisky will also assist in the association’s efforts regarding any YMCA mergers, acquisitions, shared service/management agreements.

Prior to joining the Capital District YMCA, Lisky was the President & CEO of Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York.

Lisky began her career with Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York in August of 2001 as Marketing Director. Over the next 17 years, she held various titles on the Development team.

During this time, Lisky was an integral part of the Junior Achievement team, raising more than $10 million and driving impact to more than 20,000 Capital Region students each year.

Appointed Junior Achievement President & CEO in July of 2018, Lisky led Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York to a 4 Star designation by Junior Achievement USA, recognizing strong programmatic and financial operational performance. In that same year, Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York was awarded a Peak Performance award given to only 14 of 107 Junior Achievement programs.

Under Lisky’s leadership, Junior Achievement launched 4 Capstone Programs for middle and high school students, transitioning students from the traditional classroom setting to an experiential learning environment. In addition, in response to the global pandemic, Lisky led Junior Achievement’s transition from paper-based programs to a digital delivery platform.

Prior to joining Junior Achievement, Lisky coached women’s field hockey and lacrosse at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.

Lisky holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from UAlbany, with a Minor in Business.

Lisky begins her new role December 1, 2021.
