Capital District YMCA Welcomes Susan Perkins as Director of Youth Development

Perkins will lead relationships with school districts, universities, and government officials.

Susan Perkins HeadshotALBANY, NY — The Capital District YMCA is pleased welcome Susan Perkins as the Director of Youth Development.

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Association Advancement, Perkins will ensure access to exceptional programs and services that support the priority area of Youth Development – the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical processes that all youth uniquely experience from birth to career.

Perkins will build and maintain strategic collaborations with school districts, universities, and government officials. She will work in collaboration with the advancement team to develop coordinated approaches for financial development, healthy living, community development, membership, marketing, communications, corporate wellness, and special events.

Prior to joining the Capital District YMCA, she was the Director of Programs and Services at the State University of New York System Administration. As the chief academic officer for the administration, she led operations of 12 centers administered by CUNY and SUNY and 35 ATTAIN digital literacy labs across NYS. The system served adults, youth and children who are educationally and economically disadvantaged.

Perkins has held positions on numerous boards and committees, worked at the New York State Department of Labor, and the City School District of Albany, NY.

Perkins holds several degrees in education, including a M.S. in Special Education and Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the University at Albany.
