Today is National Dance Day, founded and officially celebrated in 2010 when American congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton decided to dedicate a day to dancing. Her goal was to promote physical fitness and dance education. Every year, National Dance Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of July.

At the Y, we offer many classes that incorporate dancing and deep stretching, which facilitates more well-crafted dance techniques. Taking a Pilates, yoga or PiYo class regularly will not only improve flexibility, but also dance technique and muscle strength. Then, if a Zumba class is added to the weekly routine, incorporating rhythm and movement, even better!
