The prevalence of chronic illness diagnosis has increased in the United States in the last decade; a study by Johns Hopkins showed that 25% of the US population has been diagnosed with some sort of chronic illness.
According to the Mayo Clinic “Aerobic exercise can help to improve your heart health and endurance and aid in weight loss. Strength training can improve muscle strength and endurance, make it easier to do daily activities, slow disease-related declines in muscle strength, and provide stability to joints. Flexibility exercises may help you to have optimal range of motion about your joints, so they can function best, and stability exercises may help reduce the risk of falls.?
The Capital District YMCA developed Neuromotor Wellness Recovery as a result of an expressed need in our communities to expand our already existing programs to be more inclusive of a wider variety of exercisers.
