Now that the cold weather has arrived, many people are going on vacations during their winter breaks. It’s really easy to let your healthy habits slip away while on vacation, but that doesn’t mean you have to completely go off the rails with exercise and nutrition. Here are some tricks on how to have fun while staying healthy.

Early Morning Runs

Nutrition is king, and daily exercise is its queen. Try going on runs before the rest of the family wakes up in the morning. Running in the morning lowers blood pressure and increases brain activity, and both will last through the day.

Walks After Dinner

 If you’re not a fan of running on vacation, try going for a walk after dinner.  It helps with digestion, and keeps stress levels low. As fun as vacation can be, we all know it can be very stressful at times. Keeping kids occupied and busy at all times while having to keep an eye on them can get tiresome fast.

Water

Swimming in water can make you even more dehydrated than normal. Try to make sure you’re drinking about half your body weight in water each day.

Ignore the Urge to Splurge

Instead of going out to dinner every night, try having a family dinner night and cook yourselves! This is a great way to bond with your family, and your wallet will definitely thank you.
