Preventing the Spread of Coronavirus
Your safety is our priority. As we monitor the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Capital Region, we want to keep you up to date on what the Y is doing to prevent the spread of coronavirus in our community and what you can do to protect yourself and your family. We will continue to update this page with information as it becomes available.
What you can do
Do your part to prevent the spread of the virus. The Center for Disease (CDC) recommends the following preventative measures:
• Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
• Avoid touching face with unwashed hands
• Stay home when sick
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
In addition, when you’re at the Y, do your part in helping to maintain the cleanliness of the facility. Be sure to wipe down equipment and notify staff of any issues.
What the Y is doing
Our staff is working diligently to wipe and sanitize all surfaces. You can expect our staff to be frequently cleaning equipment, phones, railings, doorknobs, and more.

What we know about the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the novel coronavirus is part of a large family of viruses common in people and many different species of animals. The virus causes a respiratory disease called COVID-19. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure and include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
