Today’s Achievers Are Tomorrow’s Leaders
The Black and Latino Achievers program is a dynamic initiative aimed at empowering and supporting young individuals from Black and Latino communities to reach their full potential. This program recognizes the unique challenges faced by Black and Latino youth and seeks to provide them with the resources, mentorship, and opportunities necessary for academic and personal success.
Key components of the Black and Latino Achievers program include:
- Academic Support: The program offers academic support services such as tutoring, study skills workshops, and access to educational resources to help participants excel in school and pursue higher education opportunities.
- Mentorship: Participants are paired with mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and support as they navigate their educational and personal journeys. Mentors serve as role models and advocates, offering valuable insights and advice to help participants overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
- Leadership Development: The program fosters leadership skills and encourages participants to take on leadership roles within their communities. Through workshops, seminars, and hands-on experiences, participants learn important leadership qualities such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Cultural Enrichment: The Black and Latino Achievers program celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Black and Latino communities. Participants engage in cultural events, workshops, and activities that promote cultural pride and awareness.
- College and Career Readiness: The program provides college and career readiness support, including assistance with college applications, financial aid, and career exploration. Participants receive guidance on selecting colleges and majors that align with their interests and goals and assistance with preparing for standardized tests and developing professional skills.
- Community and Civic Engagement: Participants are encouraged to give back to their communities through volunteer service projects and civic engagement activities. By actively participating in Youth & Government and community service initiatives, participants develop a sense of social responsibility and learn the importance of making a positive impact on the world around them.
Overall, the Black and Latino Achievers program aims to empower Black and Latino youth to realize their full potential, become leaders in their communities, and make meaningful contributions to society. Through a combination of academic support, mentorship, leadership development, and community/civic engagement, Black and Latino Achievers equips participants with the skills, confidence, and resources they need to succeed academically, personally, and professionally.
Cost of the program is $250. Scholarships available.
