Refugees to Camp Program
Refugees to Camp is designed to assure a fun, educational, and enriching summer camp experience for children who have experienced the hardships of resettling as a refugee throughout New York.
Camp Chingachgook has partnered with Refugees to Camp for the past several summers and has impacted the lives of hundreds of children. Through this program, children of refugee families are sent to Camp Chingachgook to experience sleep-away camp! For two weeks they get to enjoy being kids at Camp without the added responsibility of caring for younger siblings or translating for parents.
Through this partnership, campers get to play, have fun, and eat three hearty meals a day. They get to sleep in a bed, improve their communication skills and experience the childhood that many refugee children didn’t get to have due to poverty, war, and persecution.
To see the difference Refugees to Camp makes, read this letter written by one of our past campers:
The annual campaign gives these children the chance to attend camp free of charge, make lasting, positive memories and friendships that will support them as they begin their new lives in the United States. Refugees to Camp works to provide the necessary gear, clothing, and equipment that campers may need.
Help us help these children experience the childhood they deserve by donating to our annual campaign today.
