Strengthening Community

Helping people is what we’re all about at the Y, and has been from the start. We strengthen the foundations of community by nurturing the potential in every child, by promoting healthy living, and by giving back to our community. The Capital District YMCA is a charitable, non-profit organization.

Holiday Schedule

We’re closed on the following holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, and Christmas Day. Please watch for announcements regarding our schedule for these holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

30-Day Guarantee

Your complete satisfaction is our goal at the Capital District YMCA. Toward that end, we’re pleased to offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee when you join. If you’re unhappy with your membership, please let us know and we’ll gladly refund your money, including the joiner fee.

We Offer Financial Assistance

At the Capital District YMCA, we welcome individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds and never turn you away because you cannot afford our membership, programs, or services. To help those with financial need, we have an Annual Campaign scholarship program which is funded by caring members of our community. For more information, please ask at the front desk, or call 518.869.3500 and select the option for Membership Services.

Community Rate Option

The Capital District YMCA is a non-profit service-focused organization committed to the health and well-being of our members. At the Y, in addition to our full-facility membership option, we offer most of our programs to our community members. You simply pay the non-member rate for each program you take, except for group training classes, which are a benefit of being a full-facility member.

Convenient Methods of Payment

Automatic Withdrawal / Safe and Convenient

Monthly payments are withdrawn from your checking or savings account, or your debit/credit card is charged. The joiner fee and pro-rated cost for your first month of membership are due when you join.

Annual Payment Options

Dues may be paid in full when you join. We accept cash, check, or credit card. When you pay for a full year, the amount you owe includes the pro-rated cost for the current month, and the joiner’s fee.

You can cancel your membership at any time by visiting “My Account” at cdymca.org, calling (518.869.3500 x9961), emailing the billing department (billing@cdymca.org), or visiting us in person at any CDYMCA location.

Guests Are Welcome

Each YMCA membership includes unlimited guest passes. Each guest can visit up to two times for free per calendar year. After two free visits, guests are encouraged to join the Y. Members may bring up to 2 guests at a time. Guests who’ve used their two free passes (and drop-in visitors) have these Day Pass options: Single Guest & Household (2 Adults w/Children). Prices vary by location.

In case of an emergency and for the security of our members, all guests ages 18 and older need to provide a valid photo ID when visiting. Guests complete a guest waiver the first time they visit. Guests under the age of 18 must have their parent / guardian complete and sign the guest waiver form prior to entering the YMCA. Guests under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult while in the facility.

Children at the Y (All Branches)

Youth ages 11 and under must be directly supervised by an adult guardian in the facility unless participating in a staff supervised area or staff-led activity.

Access to Facility by Age

Member Code of Conduct

Capital District YMCA members are expected to consistently celebrate the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with behavior that illustrates these values.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our members and guests, we may suspend, cancel, or terminate a membership, and/or prohibit individuals from having access to our facilities, programs, events or program spaces in the event an individual’s behavior or conduct appears contradictory to the associations core values.

Inappropriate language, or behavior deemed to be in conflict with the welfare and safety of members and staff, is prohibited.

The Y also reserves the right to deny facility access or membership to any person who is a sexual offender or who has been convicted of (or who has been charged with) any crime involving sexual abuse.

Membership suspension, cancellation, or termination at one branch, or from one program results in suspension, cancellation, or termination at all Capital District YMCA branches and programs.

The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access.

When you join the Y, you will naturally join that branch you use most often. That branch is designated as your home branch. Usually once a year, we review your membership to ensure we have correctly designated your home branch, based on your usage. In the case where your home branch has changed, we will confirm that change by mail/E-mail and, if needed, adjust your monthly rate to reflect your home branch.

Child Watch

Please see our Child Watch page for the most up-to-date contact information and policies for participating branches.

Membership Holds

We offer a hold which covers up to 4 months. Please submit your request in writing 30 days before your leave of absence. Your membership is automatically re-activated once your hold expires.

Paid Program Refund Policy

Refunds and credits are offered when approved by the branch location’s Executive Director. Please provide your request in writing. Refunds and credits are no longer issued once you attend two or more classes in a program unless you have a medical reason. Please provide a note from your doctor. Credits are good for one year and valid at any branch. If we cancel a program, we will provide a refund.

Cell Phone/Camera Policy

Visual recording devices are not allowed without the express consent of each branch Executive Director. Anyone taking pictures of another person without that person’s permission and knowledge will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and membership may be terminated. Cell phones are permitted in the lobby and for listening to media content (with headphones) during personal workouts.

Your Membership Travels with You

The YMCA’s National Reciprocity Program welcomes you to thousands of YMCAs across the country. In addition, Capital District YMCA members are welcome to use all of our association’s branches. Please join at the branch you will use most often. Not valid with SilverSneaker memberships.
